Laurea UAS and Open Science coordination
ENoLL council member and previous Chair Dr Tuija Hirvikoski represents ENoLL at the EC Open Science Policy Platform (OSPP), which is building the Open Science roadmap for Europe. Hirvikoski’s University, Laurea UAS, is one of the long term ENoLL drivers and effective members.
On 21 and 22 October, in conjunction with the Finnish Presidency of European Council (#EU2019FI) Laurea UAS hosts the EU member state Open Science coordinators and the OSPP meetings. The meeting offers the members states an opportunity to share best practices on open science coordination and align open science efforts in Europe.
Open science coordination practices and benefits at national level were shared by French, Irish, Dutch and Finnish representatives. The afternoon workshops, however tackle best practices and key areas for shared European development, namely: appropriate incentives and rewards, Citizen Science and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
At his opening speech, Laurea President Jouni Koski emphased that “innovation cannot happen in a vacuum or continue to be done internally behind closed doors. To succeed, it is vital to our future to be able to create, maintain and orchestrate open science and open innovation ecosystems, as well as actively connect with international parties”.
