We’re ecstatic to welcome a effective member to ENoLL following the March Council meeting, and they are one of the first effective members coming from outside Europe. Welcome SU R&D Living Lab of Quebec, Canada. Please read their story below:
The principal objective of SU – Research and Development is focused on the observation of the dynamics of the contemporary transformation of our society through experimentation and interrogation of the new issues which configure our society. It is a society in transition which makes a new value chain appear : the modes of development centered around digital values which, themselves, structure new modes of socio-economic organisation highlighting a sociotechnical revolution.
With the widespread growth in the values of connectivity and innovation becoming more and more an indicator of irreversibility leading toward a new socio-economic system, we must admit that the reinvention of our world, of our way of life, and more generally of our relationship to the world, has become an obligation. The critical thresholds of irreversibility have been met.
Taking into account these actions in this prospective action plan for the exploration of the future, the researchers, cultural creators, and agents of change that we are propose an action plan which considers the endeavours of the living laboratory as an avenue toward achieving durable development.
The centre of experimentation and intervention of our laboratory, the Cercle Lab Vivant (living laboratory) brings together both public and private actors, businesses, associations, and individual actors with the objective of testing, on a full-scale level, the services, tools, or new practices which predominantly relate to cultural development.
As one of the first non-European living laboratory and effective members of ENoLL, the Cercle Lab Vivant engages itself in a dynamic of growth, both of creativity and citizen empowerment. The lab works to see the emergence of creative communities focused on the development of the cultural potential of citizens by facilitating open innovation.
Our laboratory, working toward the advent of this sensitive city, a concept which extends the meaningful contribution made by MIT Lab Director Carlo Ratti’s work on the senseable city, addresses the systematic exploration of issues in the city and in society through the efficient use of a range of values that are represented in the management of knowledge, in biometrics, and in governance. His principal leitmotiv is to take the research out of the laboratory in order to implement it in day-to-day life, and also to contribute to innovative content production, as well as to the digitization of resources and the heritage supporting the cultural domain.
With the intent to stay focused on technological innovation, our laboratory employs the use of the Internet in a very futurist plan of action which is centered on the use of the latest generation technological platforms, in relation to the management of data (notably Fujitsu’s SPATIOWL) as well as the exploration of models and techniques directed toward the design and control of quantum devices (quantum computation and its adaptations for safe management of the internet-to-come and the data which will be produced).
