EU Mayors and the European Commission will meet to discuss transformation of cities and communities to become smart, green and resilient
PRESS RELEASE [Brussels, 24 November] European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton will meet with mayors from the Living-in.EU initiative on 2 December 2021 to discuss green and digital transformation and the socio-economic resilience of European cities and communities.
The event will be organized in a hybrid form, where the Mayors, elected regional leads and organisers will meet in Brussels while participants of the event can follow the discussion via a web stream. Streaming will be available in English and French language. Participants do not need to register, and can join the stream directly through these web links:

The streaming will kick off at 14:30 CET with a dialogue between Commissioner Breton and EU Mayors. Following the opening address and welcoming video messages the Mayors will discuss two topics:
Panel 1: Planning and implementing the green and digital transition of the local economy and society held at 14:50 CET
Panel 2: Digital strategy, Data strategy, Digital decade accelerating the digital transformation at local level, digital as an enabler for green transition held at 15:38 CET.
Living-in.EU initiative is a collaborative platform for cities and communities to accelerate their digital transformation the ‘European way’ (citizen-centric, ethically and socially responsible data usage, open and interoperable standards).
Created by Eurocities, Open and Agile Smart Cities (OASC), the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), and supported by the European Commission and the Committee of the Regions, it was launched in December 2019 by the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
