On 6 December ENoLL (ENoLL Office as well as ENoLL member from Thessaloniki Active and Healthy Ageing Living Lab (Thess-AHALL)) have attended the European Summit on Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing.
The event was build on the achievements on the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy ageing (EIP AHA) of which ENoLL is also a member; past and current research & innovation in Horizon 2020, the Active and Assisted Living Joint Programme with Member States and the EIT-KIC on healthy living and active ageing.
Roberto Viola (Director General of European Commission’s DG CONNECT) has pointed out that technological system development is one part of the story towards digitalised health case system; the community active in health care needs to integrate it in real environments, which is why all the stakeholders have to be involved in the discussion. Living Labs have been recognised in various parts of the summit as necessary actors to introduce top-down initiatives in local communities.
Blueprint on Digital Transformation of health and care was in the centre of the discussion. In December 2015 at the 4th Conference of Partners of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA), European Commissioner Günther Oettinger (Digital Economy and Society) outlined how digital innovation, enabled by a functioning Digital Single Market, can transform demographic change into an opportunity for Europe’s economy and society. One year later, the stakeholders met again to discuss recenet developments and agree on a common path together.
ENoLL is a member of the EIP on AHA Action Group – an assembly of partners committing to work on specific issues related to ageing, by sharing the knowledge and expertise with their peers, giving added-value to their national and local experience and identifying gaps that need to be fulfilled at European level.
