Day0 trainers @ OLLD19
The call for speakers for Day0 (Learning Lab Day) at the OLLD19 conference is now open!
This opportunity is directed at ENoLL core members. Adherent members may also apply based on availability.
There are several opportunities to contribute to the agenda again this year: first, take a look at the Day0 page & agenda on the OLLD website.
The program aims to train participants in forming an understanding of Living Labs, what they are, how they function & key elements, but most importantly this year: where to start, and where to go from there. This year, the agenda has been built on the innovation phases of Living Labs to provide a red-line guidance on how to set-up a Living Lab: (1) ideation & design, (2) experimentation & testing, (3) evaluation & implementation. After a general introduction to the key elements in Living Labs and a kick-off presentation on “where to start”, the program suggests the iterative steps to follow in moving along your Living Lab innovation journey. After each presentation a group of panelists enter the stage and offer their reflections on the presentations just heard: what is their experience, in terms of getting started, ideation, experimentation and finally, evaluation?
All training blocks end with a hands-on exercise where the participants are guided through a process of reflecting on their own (Living Lab) cases, applying the learnings in their own contexts.
We’re looking for;
(1) getting started presentation
A presentation to guide the attendees on the first to-do’s and things to look out for when setting up your own Living Lab. This presentation takes place after the general introduction (basic elements of Living Labs) presentation and the main aim is to teach new, up & coming Living Labs on where to begin in their journey of becoming a Living Lab: what are the first steps to take?
This time-slot of 1h 15min consists of 30 minute presentation, 15 minute panel discussion & 30 minute hands-on exercise. Applying for this slot you will be asked to produce (a) a 30-minute presentation on the topic of “getting started”. In addition, you will be asked to produce (b) a hands-on exercise, a mini-workshop or a template that allows the participants to take in what they have learnt through your presentation, and apply these learnings already in their own case: what does my Living Lab look like, in terms of “where to start”?
In addition to the two 30-minute slots (presentation & hands-on activity), the slot has a 15-minute panel discussion where 3 Living Labs enter the stage and discuss their experiences on this topic from their point of view, sharing their own ‘stories’. As an applicant for this workshop you may be in touch with the moderator+panelists before the Day0 training for a briefing.
(2) phase 1: ideation & design presentation + hands-on exercise (template, mini-workshop, etc.)

In addition, you will be asked to produce (b) a hands-on exercise, a mini-workshop or a template that allows the participants to take in what they have learnt through your presentation, and apply these learnings already in their own case: what does my Living Lab look like, in terms of phase 1: ideation & design?
In addition to the two 30-minute slots (presentation & hands-on activity), the slot has a 15-minute panel discussion where 3 Living Labs enter the stage and discuss their experiences on this topic from their point of view, sharing their own ‘stories’. As an applicant for this workshop you may be in touch with the moderator+panelists before the Day0 training for a briefing.
(3) phase 2: experimentation & testing presentation + hands-on exercise (template, mini-workshop, etc.)
This time-slot of 1h 15min consists of 30 minute presentation, 15 minute panel discussion & 30 minute hands-on exercise. Applying for this slot you will be asked to produce (a) a 30-minute presentation on the topic of phase 2 in Living Labbing: experimentation & testing. In addition, you will be asked to produce (b) a hands-on exercise, a mini-workshop or a template that allows the participants to take in what they have learnt through your presentation, and apply these learnings already in their own case: what does my Living Lab look like, in terms of phase 2: experimentation & testing?
In addition to the two 30-minute slots (presentation & hands-on activity), the slot has a 15-minute panel discussion where 3 Living Labs enter the stage and discuss their experiences on this topic from their point of view, sharing their own ‘stories’. As an applicant for this workshop you may be in touch with the panelists prior for a briefing before Day0.
(4) phase 3: evaluation & implementation presentation + hands-on exercise (template, mini-workshop, etc.)
This time-slot of 1h 15min consists of 30 minute presentation, 15 minute panel discussion & 30 minute hands-on exercise. Applying for this slot you will be asked to produce (a) a 30-minute presentation on the topic of phase 3 in Living Labbing: evaluation & implementation. In addition, you will be asked to produce (b) a hands-on exercise, a mini-workshop or a template that allows the participants to take in what they have learnt through your presentation, and apply these learnings already in their own case: what does my Living Lab look like, in terms of phase 3: evaluation & implementation?
In addition to the two 30-minute slots (presentation & hands-on activity), the slot has a 15-minute panel discussion where 3 Living Labs enter the stage and discuss their experiences on this topic from their point of view, sharing their own ‘stories’. As an applicant for this workshop you may be in touch with the panelists prior for a briefing before Day0.
(5) 3 panelists: one from each, private, public & academia
The panel discussions will run throughout the day, allowing you to discuss your case in front of the audience always reflecting on the presentations heard. As seen in points 2-4 above, the panelists enter the stage for 15-minutes after each of these presentations, and before the hands-on activities. During these panel discussions the 3 Living Lab panelists are invited to discuss the case from their point of view: what is your experience, based on the presentation just heard, presented in a real-life case ‘storytelling’ manner through a casual panel discussion?
(6) moderator
The moderator is responsible for facilitating the beginning, end and in-between sessions -The moderator bridges the gaps in between sessions. In addition, the moderator in this case has a more content based role, ensuring a smooth flow throughout the day, prepping the speakers and is also in charge of the conclusion & reflection session (potentially, including a hands-on exercise) at the end.
