PAsteur Innovative Living Lab Of Nice 2020

PAsteur Innovative Living Lab Of Nice 2020

Historical Background:

Created in 2009 by the French Ministry of the Economy, Industry and Employment, the CNR Santé (National Reference Centre for Homecare and Independent Living) is an association that brings together a large number of stakeholders focused on healthcare innovation. As part of the portfolio of CNR offerings, “PAILLON 2020” Living Lab fosters the emergence and growth of digital technologies in the domain of Homecare and Independent Living.

The name of the Living Lab is highly symbolical in two ways:

  •  The Living Lab is situated next to the river Paillon which takes its source up in the mountains and is fed by hundreds of streams on its way to the Mediterranean Sea. This river represents the paradigm that the CNR Santé would like to create for the community: enrichment by knowledge, sharing of good practices, and promotion of best products across the healthcare ecosystem.
  •  “2020” refers to the 10 years’ strategy proposed by the European Commission for the “advancement of the economy of the European Union, especially to improve access to finance for research and innovation so as to strengthen the innovation chain and boost levels of investment throughout the Union”.

The Healthcare Innovation Center that houses the Living Lab was launched in 2015 and is co-run by the Healthcare Directorate and the Nice Metropolis. The aim of the Healthcare Innovation Center is to establish an ecosystem of innovative companies, researchers and institutions focused on the field of ageing, autonomy, digital healthcare, as well as social innovations in health.

Current Capabilities of the Living Lab and affiliated ecosystem:

Living Lab PAILLON 2020 located in close proximity to the newest hospital in Nice (Hôpital Pasteur 2) and is geared for evaluation, discovery and uptake of innovative healthcare technologies, in particular, devices used by patients in their homes. The Living Lab is equipped with a model apartment that is designed as a showcase and a testing platform for technologies supporting independent living and autonomy.

Fragility Platform at the University Hospital of Nice (Hôpital de Cimiez, Pôle Gérontologie). The platform allows for experimentation and clinical research in the areas of fragility, physiology, biomechanics of aging, autonomy, falls, modified physical activity.

Gerontology Platform at EHPAD Valrose is suitable for standardised testing in the area of gerontology with a particular focus on R&D and teaching of medical professionals

Alzheimer Platform at the Institute Claude Pompidou is allows experimentation and evaluation of innovative solutions focused on diagnosis, monitoring and support of patients suffering from the Alzheimer disease
