The Living Lab in Gerontechnology for Age-Friendly Home (Age-Friendly Home Living Lab) of the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) advocates an age-friendly home concept with the application of user-driven and experience-based innovations for the better living of older persons. Being a “housing laboratory”, the HKHS has pioneered various housing solutions and set up the Elderly Resources Centre (ERC) on the foresight of the increasing ageing population to incubate innovative solutions and promote age-friendly home living to the community. Riding on the solid foundation of serving over 80,000 tenants and 20,000 ERC visitors per year, the establishment of the Age-Friendly Home Living Lab plays a significant role in materialising the cocreation process in collaboration with an extensive network of stakeholders, end-users and developers, and sheds light on transferring age-friendly concepts into practical solutions, with a vision of honouring older persons’ wish to age-in-place and minimising institutionalisation.
