Living Lab Animal Husbandry

Living Lab Animal Husbandry

The Living Lab Animal Husbandry (LLAH) started in 2012 within ILVO (Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food) and covers the complete agrifood value chain.

The main goal of the LLAH is promoting practice-oriented innovation in the pig, cattle, and poultry industry by co-creation, knowledge exchange and controlled experiments in research facilities and on commercial farms.

Unique is the central role of the Pig, Cattle and Poultry Information Center within the LLAH. They act as an easily accessible contact, meeting and communication platform in Flanders, providing information for all stakeholders, and bringing together and integrating the needs of the stakeholders into future practice-based and demand-driven research and co-creation. The Information Centers (info@varkensloket.be info@rundveeloket.be info@pluimveeloket.be) capture and answer questions, challenges, and needs from the sector to improve the competitiveness of all stakeholders in Agri and food.

The Living Lab Animal Husbandry (LLAH) is hosted by ILVO and is fully embedded in its strategical plan for the future. ILVO has developed a wide hands-on experience in setting up activities with a living lab approach, such as co-creation trajectories and engagement of multiple stakeholders and end-users in the agrifood chain.
