UTMC (GKEC)

Urban Transition Mission Centre (Global Knowledge Exchange Centre for Urban Climate Neutrality)

The Urban Transitions Mission Centre (UTMC) is a global platform aimed at advancing urban sustainability and facilitating the shift towards climate-neutral cities. It helps bridge knowledge and capacity gaps by connecting cities with policy, implementation strategies, and funding opportunities. The UTMC builds on the results of the European Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities, supporting the activities of the Urban Transitions Mission (UTM) under Mission Innovation. This initiative aims to promote systemic and innovative approaches for urban areas to achieve net-zero emissions and climate resilience.

The UTMC provides cities with access to a wide network of global stakeholders, enabling knowledge exchange on urban system integration, technology development, policy implementation, and investment opportunities. The Centre also makes evidence-based solutions and best practices available to help accelerate urban transitions. It organizes global and regional events, promoting international cooperation and collaboration on climate-neutral urban development.

ENoLL plays a crucial role in the project, leading both the capacity building efforts and the relationship management and visibility work package. In capacity building, ENoLL strengthens the global community working on climate-neutral and net-zero transitions by organizing two flexible, tailored events annually to facilitate mutual learning and address urban transformation challenges, integrating global best practices. For relationship management, ENoLL oversees branding, communication, and marketing for the Urban Transition Mission Centre, promoting EU leadership in climate initiatives.
