DS4SSCC

Data Space for Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities

The Data Space for Sustainable and Smart Cities and Communities initiative served as a preparatory step toward establishing a data space that supports smart communities, as enabler of the EU Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals. This effort has yielded to the DS4SSCC blueprint outlining the framework for a European Data Space dedicated to smart and sustainable urban areas. The blueprint has a non-technical and a technical part. The non-technical part includes a multi-stakeholder governance scheme, and code of conduct. The technical part includes the building blocks (technical and non-technical) required to set up and operate the data space, the Catalogue of Technical Specifications for those building blocks, and the Reference Architecture. Moreover, the offers some uses cases, a priority datasets and roadmap for implementing data spaces for smart and sustainable cities and communities.

ENoLL led the Communication and the Capacity Building activities (WP5). The DS4SSCC project’s Capacity Building activities were structured to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration within data space communities and to empower stakeholders to adeptly craft data services tailored to smart and sustainable cities. Of particular interest is the Training Hub, developed by ENoLL in collaboration with other partners. The Training Hub is designed for newcomers to the data spaces world, providing five lessons on the basics of data spaces and how to use the DS4SSCC blueprint.
