Internship Position

We welcome enthusiastic students to join our team through our internship program. During the stay at ENoLL, interns become part of an international, multicultural environment and gain insight into how a global network organisation operates. Depending on the unit, you will learn and develop skills aligned with different aspects of ENoLL’s work – ranging from network development and project management to Capacity Building, communication, finance, and administration. The internship provides an opportunity to understand how international collaboration and innovation ecosystems function, while contributing to activities that strengthen ENoLL’s mission and community. 

General conditions

Please read the conditions below to ensure eligibility: 

1. Eligibility 

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled at a university and able to provide proof of student status. 
  • For students enrolled at Belgian universities, internships can be conducted on-site at our Brussels office or remotely
  • For students enrolled at Italian universities, internships can be conducted on-site at our Rome office or remotely. 
  • For students from all other universities, internships are offered exclusively on a teleworking basis and interns must be available during ENoLL’s regular working hours (Brussels time zone). 

2. Compensation 

  • Internships are unpaid, but we offer a monthly reimbursement of €250 to help cover basic expenses. 

3. Duration 

  • The standard internship period is 6 months, with the possibility of extension, depending on performance and needs. 
  • The internship period and duration can vary and should be agreed upon individually between ENoLL and the intern.  

4. What We’re Looking For 

We seek students who are: 

  • Motivated to learn and contribute to ENoLL’s activities 
  • Creative in their approach to tasks and problem-solving 
  • Responsible and able to collaborate remotely with colleagues across Europe 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (minimum C1 level) 
  • Proactive, taking initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilities. 
  • Highly organised, reliable, and attentive to detail. 

Internships tracks 

At the moment, there are 6 internship tracks: 

  1. Network/ OLLD  
  2. Projects  
  3. Capacity Building and Research  
  4. Communications  
  5. Projects financial management 
  6. Administration/accounting

Network/OLLD

The internship will take place within the Network Team and is aimed at providing the intern with hands-on experience in community engagement and network coordination within an international innovation ecosystem. 

During this learning internship, the intern will gain practical experience in community engagement, event organization, administration, and communication within an international innovation network. The role offers exposure to the daily work of the ENoLLNetwork Team, supporting activities related to member engagement, mapping, certification, and event coordination. 

The intern will take part in tasks such as organizing community events, supporting the mapping and analysis of network members, contributing to the ENoLL Labelling & Certification and Value Capturing processes, assisting Working Groups, helping organize OpenLivingLab Days 2026, and contributing to communication and membership development activities. 

The selected intern will work closely with the Network and OLLD Coordination Teams and will receive personalised guidance via email, phone, and videoconferencing platforms.

Projects

The internship will take place within the Projects Unit and is aimed at introducing the intern to the practical dynamics of managing international research and innovation projects, from idea development to implementation. 

During this learning internship, the intern will acquire knowledge and practical understanding of project management, including planning, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of activities within collaborative EU-funded projects. The intern will take part in activities such as proposal preparation, funding scouting, mapping, project management, and reporting, thus learning first-hand the key elements of the project life and gaining exposure to managing timelines, resources, and partnerships within an international network.

Capacity Building and Research

The internship will take place within the Capacity Building and Research Unit and is aimed at providing the intern with hands-on experience in learning design, research management, and knowledge dissemination within an international innovation ecosystem focused on Living Labs. 

During this learning internship, the intern will gain practical experience in supporting the development of educational materials, administering online training programs, and conducting research mapping within the Living Lab and open innovation fields. The role offers exposure to the daily work of the ENoLL Capacity Building and Research Team, supporting activities related to our training academy, knowledge management, and research outreach. 

The intern’s key learning activities will include contributing to the development of our online training academy, assisting in the delivery of online Living Lab trainings, participating in the mapping and analysis of Living Lab-related materials (such as toolkits and guides), and supporting the unit’s communication efforts to share research and training insights in alignment with the Communications Team. 

The selected intern will be part of the Capacity Building and Research Team and will receive personalized guidance via email, phone, and videoconferencing platforms.

Communications

The internship will take place within the Communications Unit and is aimed at providing the intern with hands-on experience in digital communication, storytelling, and strategic outreach within an international innovation ecosystem focused on Living Labs. 

During this learning internship, the intern will gain practical experience in developing and implementing communication activities, including content creation for social media, website updates, and newsletter preparation. The role offers the opportunity to understand how to translate complex innovation topics into accessible and engaging stories for diverse audiences, while contributing to the visibility of ENoLL’s work and its members. 

The intern’s key learning activities will include supporting the planning and implementation of communication campaigns, assisting in the preparation and dissemination of newsletters, contributing to social media content calendars, and monitoring analytics to understand audience engagement. The intern will also be introduced to brand management principles and the coordination of communication across EU-funded projects. 

The selected intern will collaborate closely with the Communications Team and will receive personalized supervision and guidance via email, phone, and videoconferencing platforms.

Projects financial management

The internship will take place within the Projects Administration Team and is aimed at providing the intern with practical experience in the financial management and administration of international research and innovation projects throughout their entire life cycle, from proposal preparation to reporting. 

During this learning internship, the intern will acquire knowledge and practical understanding of financial management within international projects, gaining insight into budgeting, cost monitoring, documentation requirements, and compliance procedures that support successful project implementation. The intern will learn by taking part in activities such as preparing project budgets, collecting and verifying financial documentation, monitoring project expenses and helping maintain internal financial trackers, supporting financial reporting, gathering supporting documents for audits, reviews, and internal checks, and assisting with administrative tasks related to ongoing and new projects. 

The selected intern will work closely with the Projects Administration Team and will receive supervision via email, phone, and videoconferencing platforms.

Administration/accounting

The internship will take place within the Finance and People Unit and is designed to provide the intern with hands-on experience in financial operations, administrative coordination, and organizational support within an international non-profit association.  

During this internship, the intern will gain practical experience in core accounting tasks such as invoice processing, expense tracking, and financial reporting, as well as administrative duties including document management, internal procedures and guidelines implementation, and internal record keeping. The role offers the opportunity to understand how financial and administrative functions enable the smooth operation of a dynamic organization, while contributing to the efficiency and compliance of its internal processes. 

The intern’s key learning activities will include assisting in the preparation and track of invoices, supporting budget monitoring, maintaining accurate records of transactions, and helping with contract documentation.  

The selected intern will collaborate closely with the Finance and People Team and will receive personalized supervision and guidance via email and videoconferencing platforms.
