[ISPIM Panel] Living Labs in Agriculture

21/06/2021 06/11/2024

In response to environmental, economic, and social challenges, the living labs approach to innovation management is receiving increasing attention within the agricultural sector. Living labs bring together farmers, industry, consumers, scientists, citizens, and other collaborators to co-create, test, and evaluate innovative practices and technologies to address challenges affecting the agriculture and agrifood sector.

The approach holds great promise for accelerating the co-development and adoption of innovations, for catalyzing system-wide transitions for greater resilience and sustainability, for encouraging scientific knowledge exchange through collaboration, and for driving policy development.

In this panel, international experts will highlight the global trend toward living labs for innovation in agriculture and will share their experiences implementing large initiatives and networks to meet the important challenges of climate change, depleted natural resources, shrinking biodiversity, and reduced soil quality.

Moderator: Dimitri Schuurman, Manager BDE Competence Center at imec and Co-lead of the ISPIM Living Labs Special Interest Group

Panellists:

• Alexia Rouby, Research Programme Officer, European Commission

• Koen Vervoort, Acting Interim Director and Network Builder, European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL)

• Chris McPhee, Innovation Management Specialist, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and Co-lead of the ISPIM Living Labs Special Interest Group
