The 2019 European Social Innovation Competition is offering three €50.000 prizes for the most innovative projects that reduce plastic waste; either by changing and improving existing processes or through introducing entirely new initiatives and products. The Competition is funded by the European Commission’s DG GROW and delivered by a consortium of partners including Nesta, Kennisland, ENoLL, Ashoka and Scholz & Friends.

Why should you apply to become an assessor?
Assessors are a crucial part of the Competition’s selection process. They will make the pre-assessment of all submitted entries before they are sent to the judging panel for the final say. You decide whether submitted ideas have the potential to be innovative, impactful, sustainable and scalable.
But most importantly, by becoming an EUSIC assessor you will have the opportunity to:
Essential
Desirable
The entry form is seven questions and the answers are all quite short, because we’re looking for the potential of an idea. All applications are made online through Submittable, which is also the platform used to complete assessments.
You will make a rating out of five for each of four provided judging criteria. There is scoring guidance for you to follow in Submittable, which suggests the attributes of a low scoring to a high scoring entry. You will also need to leave a short comment (up to 150 words) to justify each of your scores.
*** All Assessors will be provided with a Thematic Introduction Package and a Best Practice Assessment example before the assessment period with reference guidelines on this year’s Competition theme.
Workload
Remuneration
Remuneration will be based on the number of assessments conducted. Each assessment is valued at €12 (including VAT). You can expect a remuneration up to €600 for your total workload when you complete the maximum of 50 assessments.
