We invite you to the session on “The art of using art to empower societal changes & human behaviour” held on February 8th from 11h to 13h CET. 

We have the pleasure to be joined again by Pierre Echard and Louise Hopper, two of our inspirational speakers from our Digital living lab days 2021 conference, held in September.

They will talk about the bridge between design thinking, artistic practice, and education & research for societal change.

You will have the opportunity to put questions forward to both.

Afterwards they want to explore and discuss together with you how to empower artistic practice & design thinking as tools for changing human behaviour and societies.

About the speakers: 

Pierre is co-founder and professor in the Master’s in Design for Social Innovation at Saint Luc Arts College in Brussels. This multidisciplinary programme brings together students from visual, spatial, and plastic artistic disciplines, who engage in active learning by addressing real-life societal challenges with public, private and non-profit organisations in the field. Pierre has over 25 years of experience in managing projects for sustainable innovation, ranging from local to international projects, with UN Agencies, NGOs, business networks & foundations in Africa, Latin America and Europe. He engages in research projects using human centered & participatory design thinking approaches to foster creativity and innovation.

Louise graduated with a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 1993 and worked in various information technology roles in Ireland and in the US from 1988 to 2001. Since completing her Ph.D. in Psychology in TCD in 2013, Louise has worked as a Lecturer and post-doctoral researcher in DCU. Louise has extensive experience working with people with dementia and their families and her recent projects include assistive technology and timely access to formal community-based care to support those living with dementia and the design of a National Dementia Registry for Ireland. Louise was awarded the DCU Presidents Research Award for 2017. She is also the co-founder and co-chair of the Alzheimer Café Leixlip.
