OpenFactoryDay 2018 in Lemgo

Lemgo´s SmartFactoryOWL offered an exciting insight to the technologies of the future at its second Open Factory Day. SmartFactoryOWL is a joint research and demonstration factory of Fraunhofer IOSB-INA and OWL University of Applied Sciences. We are demonstrating digitized production technologies since May 2016.

Since then, the unique infrastructure in OWL has attracted more than 10,000 visitors, since visitors can experience in SmartFactoryOWL what the work of the future could look like, from prototype development up to manual assembly. The Living Lab gives visitors hands-on experiences and allows them to participate in the development of technology through numerous services and events.

The Open Factory Day presents many of these digitisation technologies in a playful way. Parallel to the open day at OWL University of Applied Science, the Open Factory Day offers the opportunity to experience augmented reality, collaborative robotics, 3D printing, artificial intelligence and much more technologies in a real production environment.

This year, over 600 visitors made their way to SmartFactoryOWL and took part in games such as the robot scavenger hunt or model construction. Students learned about potential study opportunities, companies about industrial 4.0 technologies and families could simply get to know the Innovation Campus in Lemgo and enjoy the great atmosphere.

A voucher for the climbing park in Detmold was raffled off for the fastest result in the scavenger hunt. The lucky winner this year was 11-year-old Sofie from Detmold.
