Results of a 2-year World Bank-ENoLL collaboration, CitiSense 2014

On November 16th and 17th and as part of SCEWC, the World Bank organised CitiSense 2014 to showcase how urban innovation could bring a wide range of benefits to municipalities. The goals of CitiSense 2014 were “to share innovative projects to enhance public service delivery through technology-enabled collaboration with citizens, and to promote interaction of experts and partners with cities from all over the world.”

The ENoLL community was very well represented at the Citisense event, by contributing both to the inspiring presentations of the Sunday TED-style talks and to the panel discussions of the second day.

In addition, some of the ENoLL members part of the executive board (ENoLL Council) were present to further discuss and announce next steps in the World Bank – ENoLL collaboration. In 2012, the World Bank (WB) and the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the main objective of bringing global expertise in the area of ICT to support the World Bank and its clients improve public services, increase civic participation and advance public administrative capacity among others.

The 2-year successful collaboration has been focused on a joint effort to develop knowledge, peer-to-peer learning activities to support the development of networked Smart City projects, and the sharing and transfer of knowledge and saw the announcement and distribution of the jointly produced handbook “Citizen-Driven Innovation: A guidebook for city mayors and public administrators” and the launch of the communities of practice at the CitiSense event in November 2014. The handbook, the production of which was announced during the 2013 edition of CitiSense, is the result of a year of work between the ENoLL members and the World Bank. This handbook will be available by the end of December, follow us on Twitter for the latest announcements.
