The European Network of Living Labs is deeply saddened to have learned about the recent death of Bernhard Katzy, a founding member of our network and the ENoLL community.

Bernhard had been very active in the beginning of ENoLL in 2006 before the ENoLL Secretariat had been established. As a past member of the ENoLL Council his commitment to the network helped establish the community you see before you today.

He was, until recently, active on research topics related to Living Labs and Open Innovation through his position as Professor for Technology and Innovation Management at LIACS, the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science and as Director of CeTIM Center for Technology and Innovation Management. He spent his professional life advancing Technology, Innovation Management, and Entrepreneurial Innovation as a profession around the world and to establish the field as academic discipline. He authored many papers and journals relevant for the Living Lab community for example eJOV Executive –The Electronic Journal for Virtual Organizations and Networks Volume 10, “Special Issue on Living Labs”, November 2008. His interest in the development of the professional and academic community lead to his involvement with the foundation of the ICE conferences where many Living Lab are active contributors.

On the 26-11-2015, there will be an official “celebration of life” at 10.30 at St. Sebastian, Ahornstr. 51, Aachen, followed by the burial of the urn at 12 h, at the chapel of the cemetery Westfriedhof 2, Vaalserstr. Aachen.

ENoLL would like to send its condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
