On 31st July, the first phase of the GNSS Living Lab Prize was concluded successfully with the submission of 57 complete ideas for satellite navigation applications ready to be tested and validated in a Living Lab.

The “GNSS Living Lab Prize”, carried out in line with the international innovation contest European Satellite Navigation Competition (www.galileo-masters.eu/) has searched for the best business ideas on how to use satellite navigation technologies (GNSS) in the health, energy and media sectors with the aim of conducting a “reality check trial” with the three best solutions in suitable Living Labs by involving relevant user communities and potential future customers.

The submitted ideas will be evaluated during August and September by an independent panel of technical and entrepreneurial experts and the three winners will be announced at a State reception in Munich on 18 October.

In the second phase of the GAINS project the awarded ideas will be matched with suitable Living Labs. The winning innovators shall benefit from the validation of their ideas, the user oriented engineering of their products and services, the development of their entrepreneurial team and the intensifying of their network of industrial relationships for market penetration. For a Living Lab such a “reality check trial” is an excellent opportunity to access winning ideas for innovative services and to experience, validate and evolve those services in their real life settings, before the actual implementation. It also offers the chance to Living Labs to launch pilot initiatives, that match their objectives and mission, partly funded by the GAINS project. www.gainsproject.eu

To be part of this exciting innovation process and to receive further info on the call, including the invitation to participate to the award ceremony of the winning ideas on 18 October 2010 in Munich, please complete the enclosed expression of interest by 1st October 2010. The Call will open mid October and close on 15 January 2011.
