ENoLL responds to the Designing a European Innovation Council Call for Ideas

ENoLL has responded to the European Commission Call for Ideas for a European Innovation Council (EIC) in order to support Europe’s most promising innovators.

ENoLL has responded to the European Commission Call for Ideas for a European Innovation Council (EIC) in order to support Europe’s most promising innovators.

ENoLL welcomes the announcement of the launch of the EIC as a vehicle to fully exploit European citizen’s innovation potential, and to develop a citizen-driven and human-centric European open Innovation ecosystem.

We believe that the EIC must support the development of means and methodologies to achieve a large scale, radical and sustainable transition in terms of new market creation leading to economic growth and new jobs. Vital in this process is the channelling of innovation means into this, ensuring that people are engaged to create something new and are empowered, skilled and equipped to take responsibilities for their quality of life and actively participate in this transition.

To achieve this ambition we think it is necessary to:

  1. To invest and develop a world-class European open and citizen-driven innovation and business ecosystem
  2. To support the local open innovation ecosystems based on quadruple helix.
  3. To develop a cooperative framework for citizen-driven innovation in Europe, connecting open, industry and (digital) social innovation, and in particular connecting all kind of “labs” in the first European “Collaboratory”
  4. To create Citizen Innovation Councils (CIC) in cities and regions as a way to incorporate citizen demands into innovation policies.
  5. To recognise and support the innovation intermediaries as orchestrators of local open innovation ecosystems
