ClimaGen will advance cities toward net-zero by boosting public green spaces, with a 25% increase in five demonstration cities (Belgrade – Serbia, Gdańsk – Poland, Tartu – Estonia, Torino – Italy, Trondheim – Norway). Four replication cities (Cluj-Napoca – Romania, Eindhoven – The Netherlands, Gernika – Spain, Thessaloniki – Greece) will trial similar measures. The project combines governance, evidence-based decisions, and community engagement, using Living Lab methods and aligning with NEB and Missions for scalable, inclusive solutions.
This project is funded under the Horizon Europe programme, with Grant Agreement number 101139637.
ENoLL, together with the cities, will create a joint methodology for ClimaLabs, to compare and share experiences across ClimaGen Cities, while implementation will be adjusted to local context in each city. ENoLL will organise workshops for mapping and classifying stakeholders in each ClimaLab, and jointly with them identify and prioritise roadmaps for the ClimaLabs.
ENoLL will support 9 large-scale ClimaLabs on climate-resilient regeneration and renaturing of vulnerable neighbourhoods. They will use ENoLL’s Living Lab definition, tools, KPIs and other background knowledge to build the ClimaLabs. In return, the ClimaLabs will provide ENoLL with on-the-ground experiential feedback on urban regeneration Living Labs, and renaturing measures in particular. ClimaGen experiences will also inform ENoLL’s work in the global Urban Transitions Mission Centre. Furthermore, ENoLL will integrate the outcomes into the UNaLAB Toolkit to broaden the evidence base for urban nature Living Labs. The results of these ClimaLabs will furthermore be scaled in the city and region, replicated by ClimaGen and other cities, and shared with relevant communities related to the Cities and Climate Missions, the New European Bauhaus, and sister projects.
