The Deep Dive session titled “How to Use Future Methodologies and Foresight for Our Living Labs” aims to enlighten Living Lab members on the use of foresight and future studies in their innovation and co-creation endeavours.
Foresight involves systematically exploring future developments and scenarios to inform strategic decision-making, while future studies encompass a broader interdisciplinary field examining the future from various perspectives.
FUTURE STUDIES noun [ U ] UK / ˈfjuːʧə ˈstʌdiz / US / ˈfjuʧər ˈstʌdiz / can be defined as a systematic study of possible future events and circumstances. | FORESIGHT noun [ U ] UK / ˈfɔːsaɪt / US / ˈfɔrˌsaɪt / is the perceiving and analysis of the alternative futures and the choices which are related to them. |
In other words, futures studies and foresight both refer to investigate the futures, and foresight specifically refers to the use of futures research methods and techniques for management purposes. |
This session is a deep dive into co-creation and experimentation in Living Lab environments based on practical and concrete project examples and hands-on frameworks and tools. Participants will learn about the 3-layered model for Living Labs, main innovation management phases, and methods for co-creation and experimentation. Trainees will also have the opportunity to map out their own toolbox, co-create their own innovation canvas, and receive hands-on training and exercises in facilitation and interviewing techniques. During the second day, the participants will visit a city Living Lab in Turnhout (Belgium) and get a real and practical feel of the Living Lab activities and use cases around the theme of cocreation and piloting.
