Tailor-made training – ENoLL Training on Proposal Writing

The programme is designed to help ENoLL certified Living Labs building a successful proposal for Horizon Europe calls and play a pivotal role in the European research and innovation landscape.

Living Labs are gaining momentum globally, with significant growth in the European policies and funding landscape. Living Labs play indeed pivotal roles in EU initiatives such as the Partnership for Agroecology and the Mission A Soil Deal for Europe, they are formally recognized as research infrastructure in the EU Research Area and are highlighted as flagship projects of the New European Innovation Agenda. Alongside, more than a quarter of the funding opportunities planned in the Horizon Europe Work-Programmes for 2023-2024 call for Living Labs or for the principles and methods they represent.

Expanding ENoLL value proposition, we are proud to introduce our latest offer exclusively for ENoLL members: a specialised training programme on Proposal Writing for Horizon Europe calls.

The programme is designed to help ENoLL certified Living Labs take advantage of these opportunities and play a pivotal role in the European research and innovation landscape.

Building on the long experience in EU funding and proposal development of ENoLL staff, ENoLL active Members will receive personalized guidance and insights across all the key steps and preparation needed to excel a proposal preparation.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE​

This training is designed for and open to ENoLL active Members only.

This programme targets all the ENoLL certified Living Lab staff – individuals or groups – that are engaged or interested in in proposal writing to secure EU funding for the Living Lab, irrespective of their expertise level and their role in the proposed project.

Beginners, with little to no experience in proposal writing, are offered foundational knowledge and step-by-step guidance to initiate their journey for proposals writing. Advanced participants, already familiar with proposal writing, will benefit from refining their skills and strategies to increase their success rate in proposal development and submission.

Living Labs interested in applying as Coordinators will receive comprehensive guidelines supporting the entire process, while those planning to join as Partners will gain insights to maximise their participation in the project from the proposal phase onward.

The programme

The training on Proposal Writing is structured across four independent modules held online.

Each module has a 3:00h duration, including a break and dedicated Q&A session.

While each module is designed independently, the participation to the whole programme is encouraged to gain a complete overview of how to build a successful proposal and will give access to a fifth bonus module offered for free.

This training will be the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of the EU’s Research and Innovation Framework Programme, including jargon and basic concepts. Participants will delve into the structure and funding opportunities within Horizon Europe, understanding key provisions such as admissibility, eligibility, and evaluation criteria. Cross-cutting aspects will also be examined to gain a comprehensive understanding of the framework and its logic.

Participants will explore the process timeline from conceptualization to proposal submission, gaining insights into key steps and outputs like feasibility analysis, project engineering, and finalization. This module offers the chance to develop effective approaches for each stage, ensuring a thorough and efficient proposal development process.

This training will provide the tools to form and structure a successful consortium, including identifying members, defining roles, approaching potential partners, and understanding country-specific eligibility conditions. Through concrete examples, participants will understand best practices and learn to effectively present their consortium in the proposal template, maximizing their chances of success.

Participants will master the structure and approach of the proposal template, understanding the purpose of each section from administrative forms to the description of action. Practical insights will be provided on handling online forms and addressing specific cases such as two-stage applications and blind evaluation, enabling participants to optimize their proposals for success.

In this extra session, participants will learn essential skills for best constructing the budget for collaborative proposals, starting from understanding the different budget categories and eligibility criteria. Participants will then gain practical guidance on how to build the budget effectively, which factors to consider ensuring alignment with project objectives and EU funding guidelines. Additionally, participants will be presented with strategies for presenting the budget convincingly within the proposal will be explored and approaching the lump-sum applications.

Yes, after you register and provide the invoice details, we will send you a proforma for payment.

Participation in the live sessions is valuable, but not mandatory.

All sessions are recorded. Recording can be shared with registered participants who cannot attend live sessions through an expirable secured video-recording. Please get in touch with us at projects@enoll.org.

The Virtual Learning Lab has been designed to also suit participants who cannot join the live sessions. We have received very positive feedback from previous course participants who were not able to join any of the live sessions (read our testimonials from previous attendees, above!). Many attendees may have to miss a session here and there; the online learning materials are well suited for catching up outside our live sessions. To join the course as a participant not attending in the live sessions, please keep in mind the duration of the course: the learning platform will close one month after the end of the course; so, we suggest you keep up with the ‘speed’ of the course, scheduling your own weekly learning times.

Of course! Registration to the training is open to all ENoLL Members’ staff: register as many participants as you have persons attending from the team through the registration platform and benefit of the discounted prices for groups enrolling to the complete programme. Please note that for groups enrolling to different single sessions, separate registrations are necessary.

Yes, we need a minimum of 7 registrants to hold the training.

The certificates of attendance and competence are given to all participants in the course as proof of their participation in the course. There are no exams or final scores. Participation in the course is personal; for this reason, the certificate of attendance will be provided individually.

Yes! As a beginner, with little to no experience in proposal writing, you are particularly encouraged to join the trainings to gain foundational knowledge and step-by-step guidance to initiate your journey for proposals writing.

Yes! As an advanced participant, already familiar with proposal writing, you will benefit of this training from refining your skills and strategies to increase your success rate in proposal development and submission.

Yes! This training is focussing on helping Living Lab staff to improve their proposal writing skills. While Living Labs aspects will be addressed in the trainings, prior knowledge is not necessary.
