At the WaterCampus Leeuwarden, innovations in the field of water technology are developed, tested, upscaled and introduced in the global market. The WaterCampus is a host to a variety of testing locations where new applications can be tested in close cooperation with end users. The WaterCampus does not focus on any particular development stage. Innovative ideas on TRLs 1-9 are guided to the market. End-users (in the field of water technology often industries and utilities) are involved in every step of the innovation process through membership of, or partnership with, one of the managing partners: from determining the research program to testing the innovations in various Living Labs. The WaterCampus employs a highly skilled staff and is equipped with high quality research and innovation facilities and, including a set of real-life demo sites to test innovations in. Over the years, the WaterCampus has become a mature Living Lab which involves roughly 300 businesses and knowledge institutions, is active in multiple European programs and has become a household name in the field of water technology.
