Being a comprehensive University that encompasses both STEAM domains, as well as Social Sciences & Humanities, Culture & Creativity and other associated topics, WUT is the first Romanian University to host a macro-level Living Lab, acknowledged by the European Network of Living Labs starting January 2022. Focusing on meaningful transformation projects that contribute to enhanced community wellbeing, the UVT Digital & Green Living Lab makes use of digital and green tools for transformation projects, benefitting from the education and research human capital & infrastructure.
The Living Lab embodies a collaborative nexus involving representatives from academia, public administration, civil society, including citizens, local action groups/city districts, and companies based in Timișoara, with a primary emphasis on those SMEs or large companies operating within the designated experimental districts. This holistic approach aims to foster a multifaceted engagement strategy that leverages diverse perspectives and expertise to actualize sustainable and innovative solutions for energy optimization, environmental preservation, and community well-being.
