TAMK Living Lab

TAMK’s multidisciplinary Living Labs cover themes such as climate neutrality, smart cities, energy transition, circular economy, health and wellbeing, food and hospitality, culture, and security & safety. We operate in an environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable way and promote data-driven experimentation and demonstration in real-life settings.

Our established Living Labs, such as Resto Lab, WellTech Lab, Open Lab and Creative Lab function as testbeds, and feed into initiatives, projects and overall development of the Living Labs. For example, Urban Prosumers project funded by Horizon Europe supports the implementation of EU’s Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission at the local level in Tampere region, Finland. Furthermore, collaboration within the UNINOVIS Date for L.I.F.E. European University Alliance also includes excellence hubs focusing on the adaptation of the Living Lab methods and tools.

TAMK Living Labs is an effective member of ENoLL, and is strongly committed to the Living Lab approach, embedding it holistically to all its activities in R&I, education, and capacity building. Our projects and initiatives, dedicated to value creation and valorization of results and knowledge, are always conducted with our committed network of partnerships, representing all quadruple helix stakeholder groups. The City of Tampere is an important stakeholder, while a specific focus is also set on collaboration with SMEs, smaller business entities, and civic society.
