PilsLab is a city-driven Living Lab embedded within the municipal IT organization of the City of Pilsen and physically located in the TechTower innovation hub. It focuses on real-life experimentation with emerging technologies in urban environments, with a strong emphasis on mobility, digital urban systems, education, and applied robotics.
PilsLab provides access to advanced infrastructure and testbeds, including mobility testing polygons, robotic and autonomous systems, hydrogen-powered vehicle experimentation, and water-based testing facilities for underwater robotics. These environments enable students, startups, researchers, public authorities, and emergency services to co-create, test, and validate solutions in real operational contexts.
A key strength of PilsLab is its strong education-to-innovation pipeline. Through close collaboration with schools and universities, the Living Lab integrates Living Lab methodologies into education, offering hands-on learning through hackathons, challenges, academies, and long-term student teams.
By combining real-life experimentation, public sector engagement, and capacity building, PilsLab directly contributes to urban innovation, policy-relevant insights, and the development of future-ready skills, while supporting sustainable and inclusive technological transformation at the city level.
