Created in 2009 by the French Ministry of the Economy, Industry and Employment, the CNR Santé (National Reference Centre for Homecare and Independent Living) is an association that brings together a large number of stakeholders focused on healthcare innovation. As part of the portfolio of CNR offerings, “PAILLON 2020” Living Lab fosters the emergence and growth of digital technologies in the domain of Homecare and Independent Living. The Healthcare Innovation Center that hosts the Living Lab was launched in 2015 and is co-run by the Healthcare Directorate and the Nice Metropolis. The aim of the Healthcare Innovation Center is to establish an ecosystem of innovative companies, researchers and institutions focused on the field of ageing, autonomy, digital healthcare, as well as social innovations in health. Living Lab PAILLON 2020 located in close proximity to the newest hospital in Nice (Hôpital Pasteur 2) and is geared for evaluation, discovery and uptake of innovative healthcare technologies, in particular, devices used by patients in their homes. The Living Lab is equipped with a model apartment that is designed as a showcase and a testing platform for technologies supporting independent living and autonomy.
