Monte dos Três Moinhos (Qxote)

Monte dos Três Moinhos Living Lab of QXote, is a rural, place-based Living Lab located in the Alentejo region of Portugal, dedicated to advancing sustainable development through education, experimentation, and multi-actor collaboration. Our mission is to contribute to ecological regeneration, social cohesion, and inclusive prosperity by connecting local challenges to international knowledge, talent, and innovation.

Operating through a quintuple helix approach, QXote brings together citizens, educational institutions, businesses, public authorities, and the natural environment as an active stakeholder. The Living Lab functions as an open learning and innovation ecosystem where students, researchers, professionals, and local communities co-create, test, and scale solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Key activities include international student challenges, applied research projects, living experiments in regenerative land use, sustainable water and energy systems, and capacity building for learners, educators, and local stakeholders. By combining real-life contexts with education and innovation, QXote Living Lab serves as a bridge between rural territories and global sustainability transitions, with the mission to have a long-term impact for people, land, and prosperity.
