The Green Urban Mobility Innovation Living Lab (GUMILL) is a collaborative platform based in India dedicated to advancing sustainable, inclusive urban mobility. Rooted in co-creation, it brings together communities, local stakeholders, and public-private partnerships to develop innovative, context-sensitive mobility solutions. Its work focuses on first- and last-mile connectivity, active mobility, and improving accessibility in public transport, with special attention to the needs of vulnerable groups. Now evolving into a permanent initiative housed at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), GUMILL is building institutional capacity to embed Living Lab methodologies within academic and urban planning ecosystems. Through continuous engagement with global peers, the lab applies cutting-edge practices and peer learning to test, scale, and replicate community-driven innovations. Its projects include shared electric mobility services, integration of non-motorized transport with public transit, and pilot programs that tackle complex mobility challenges in emerging urban environments.
