The i2CAT Foundation is a premier non-profit research and innovation center in Barcelona, operating as an integrated Living Lab dedicated to designing the digital society of the future. i2CAT bridges the gap between advanced R&D and societal impact through a strategic roadmap focused on 5G/6G, Artificial Intelligence, Immersive & Interactive Multimedia, Cybersecurity, and Space Communications.

As a research-driven Living Lab, i2CAT specializes in a “Human-Centric Approach,”balancing cutting-edge digital solutions with governance and ethical values. Our expertise includes “Ethics by Design” and the development of Key Value Indicators (KVIs), which complement traditional performance metrics by measuring trust, sustainability, and societal inclusion.

Utilizing a Quadruple Helix model, i2CAT conducts real-world validation of digital infrastructures across diverse sectors, including Digital Health, Smart Mobility, and Industry 5.0. By fostering open, responsible, and inclusive innovation, i2CAT empowers local communities and SMEs, ensuring territorial digital equity and creating public value through transformative technological research.
