CityLivingLab

CityLivingLab is a Living Lab based at the Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS), in southern Brazil. It operates as an open, collaborative, real-life innovation environment dedicated to understanding and transforming cities through co-creation, citizen participation, applied research and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Rooted in the Graduate Program in Administration and in the Master’s Program in Planning and Management of Sustainable Cities at UCS, CityLivingLab brings together academia, government, businesses, civil society and citizens to design, test and validate innovative solutions for contemporary city challenges. Its work focuses on sustainable development, knowledge-based cities, social innovation, resilience, governance, public policy, citizen science and the use of indicators to support evidence-based decision-making.

Through partnerships with local and regional actors, CityLivingLab promotes experimentation in real city contexts, especially through real-time data, data-driven approaches and emerging data technologies applied to city systems. Its initiatives aim to contribute to more inclusive, intelligent, sustainable and resilient cities, while strengthening universities as platforms for territorial innovation and international cooperation.
