Brno Living Lab

Brno Living Lab (BLL) connects research with real-life needs through collaboration with citizens, local authorities, companies, and other partners. Building on decades of expertise in environmental health and long-term population studies, investigates factors shaping chronic disease, chemical exposures, and quality of life, while developing innovative diagnostic and technological solutions for a sustainable society. 

BLL uses the entire city and region as an open laboratory, where data and results are continuously shared back with communities and decision-makers to create tangible impacts on everyday life. Brno is uniquely suited for this approach thanks to more than 60 years of longitudinal studies tracking living conditions, health, behaviour, and environmental exposures among its residents. 

Launched in 2020 with EU H2020 Teaming support, BLL strengthens transdisciplinary collaboration, citizen science, and multilateral engagement across the regional quadruple helix
