Exploring Future Society Through Living Labs, Exponential Technologies and Innovative Entrepreneurship

This session explores how exponential technologies, such as AI and blockchain, robotics, AR/VR/XR, precision medicine, gene editing, and renewable energy, are transforming the way we live and work. Together we will discover how Living Lab environments bring these innovations to life, turning today’s challenges into opportunities for sustainable and inclusive growth. 

Through inspiring talks, interactive panels, and realworld case studies, we will explore how entrepreneurial models, like lean startup, agile innovation, and growth hacking connect with Living Lab principles. These approaches will help turning bold ideas into practical, scalable solutions in the future. The programme combines thought leadership with handson learning, encouraging ideas exchange directly with experts and peers. Insightful site visits to cuttingedge Labs and Living Labinspired ecosystems will also showcase the future in action, leaving everyone with insights, tools, and connections to shape tomorrow. 

Session Objectives

The primary objective of this session is to equip participants with a strategic understanding of how exponential technologies – AI, blockchain, advanced manufacturing, robotics, AR/VR/XR, precision medicine, gene editing, renewable energy innovations – are driving transformative changes across industries and society. By exploring cutting-edge entrepreneurial models and innovation ecosystems, participants will learn how to identify emerging opportunities and develop scalable, tech-driven solutions.  

Expected outcomes include:  

  • Gaining insight into the societal and economic impact of exponential technologies.  
  • Understanding how to apply innovation methodologies to launch or scale entrepreneurial initiatives.

DHITECH Foundation

DHITECH is the host organisation of KLIO Lab (Knowledge-based Lifecycle InnOvation Laboratory), an active member of the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL). Its mission is to drive innovation and technological development by connecting universities, research centres, companies, and public institutions. Using the Living Lab methodology, it actively involves endusers and stakeholders in cocreating, testing, and validating solutions in reallife environments. With strong expertise in managing multistakeholder projects at regional, national, and EU levels, DHITECH plays a central role in supporting entrepreneurship and technology transfer. Its Living Lab approach ensures innovations are relevant, usable, and impactful, addressing realworld needs and social contexts. Based in Lecce, DHITECH’s innovation ecosystem focuses on advanced materials, microbionano technologies, and ICT, being closely aligned with the theme of exponential technologies and techdriven entrepreneurship. The foundation nurtures hightech startups and scalable solutions that tackle pressing societal challenges. Its recent ISO 56001:2024 certification in Innovation Management highlights its leadership in shaping inclusive, sustainable, and futureoriented innovation processes.
