K8 focuses on process and systems design. As a research institute with roots in arts and design, we see aesthetics as a strategic tool for analysis, problem solving and value creation.

Within its systems design framework, K8 offers four complementary domain-specific Living Lab approaches reflecting these four core areas of applied research and innovation:

• Regenerative Economy

We are regionally based and active across borders. In our research we cooperate with partners working in domains related to culture, technology, business and the environment. Our multidisciplinary teams support idea and concept development (think tank), find ways to put these ideas and concepts into practice (transfer) and help others build future skills (capacity building). Our results become tangible in exhibitions, festivals, learning laboratories and workshops.
