Good Tech Lab

Good Tech Living Lab is a human-centered innovation space dedicated to advancing ethical, explainable, and inclusive AI solutions through real-world experimentation. Anchored in the North-East region of Romania, it leverages a cross-sectoral ecosystem—spanning education, public administration, SMEs, and healthcare—to co-create and validate digital technologies that align with social good and responsible innovation principles.

At its core, the lab integrates the humanoid robot Pepper with an explainable AI (XAI) system to personalize advanced digital skills training and enhance AI literacy. It addresses TRL3–TRL5 development stages and functions as a testbed for trustworthy AI adoption in Living Lab environments. The lab supports digital transformation by aligning with RIS3 smart specialization areas and provides structured mentorship, usability testing, and human-centered co-design.

The unique value proposition lies in combining AI ethics maturity assessment with technology transfer, enabling inclusive access to digital innovation. This fosters adoption of AI not just as a tool, but as a socially responsible enabler of public value, workforce upskilling, and regional resilience.
