March Newsletter updates

The March edition of the newsletter is focused on Living Lab initiatives and experimentations. In this light we are launching submission for the 5th edition of the Living Lab Projects Publication for ENoLL members.

Those interested in RRI, will be happy to discover a set of “provocations” for reflection and discussion and you will find a new MOOC on co-creation in policy making. Last but not least we invite you to join our upcoming events – a talk on Social Innovation Ecosystems held on 9 March and our annual event for which you can already block the second week of September on your agenda.

  • Hackable City of Things
    ‘Hackable City of Things’ is an initiative by imec through which citizens are asked to design the smart city of tomorrow. They come up with ideas and imec works with them to find the right technology and data for ‘hacking’ the city – i.e. to improve it from the bottom-up. In 2021 the focus is on noise pollution >>>
  • CityFlows: one view on traffic flows in the city
    Over the past few months, Flemish cities have used several technologies and suppliers to monitor visitor flows. This is of interest not only during the (hopefully) exceptional COVID-19 pandemic, but also in relation to events, local economy, urban planning, air quality, and so on. With CityFlows, imec is exploring how to combine available data sources into a single traffic overview >>>

 

Updates from Thess-AHALL (Greece)

  • LifeChamps: A Collective Intelligent Platform To Support Cancer Champions
    LifeChamps, coordinated by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is a 3-year Research and Innovation Action, running from 2019 to 2022, funded under Horizon 2020. Its mission is to address the inherent complexity, caused by cancer treatments, act in the monitoring of health status and improve the Quality of Life in older cancer patients and provide support and advice to their caregivers and clinicians. This spring, LifeChamps will launch a series of small-scale sprints with end-users in the four pilot sites of the project, including Thess-AHALL >>>
  • Teaching university students co-creation and living lab methodologies
    Thess-AHALL published a paper “Teaching university students co-creation and living lab methodologies through experiential learning activities and preparing them for RRI”. The paper presents the methodology followed to bring students closer to stakeholders and make them understand the value of co-creation in living labs >>>

  • Launch of an e-Sports platform
    The e-Sports Platform, named BASE, was launched with the aim to promote Online Gaming development and create attraction to this new trending technology & platform. Launch took place on 25 February with a competition with over 20 participants >>>
  • Startup Negmstar wins first prize at Startup Innovation Competition
    The prize was awarded to NegmStar, a game developer of “Edutainment and Entertainment”. Prize money will be used for purchasing a Motion Capture Suit to allow easy and fast character animations in Negmstar applications >>>

 

Laurea Living Labs (Finland): City Drivers project of Laurea Living Labs among the 300 World Best Practices on Sustainability and Innovation

City Drivers project by ENoLL member Laurea Living Labs has been selected as one of the 300 World Best Practices on Sustainability and Innovation. The project will be presented at the 5th edition of the Global Entreps Awards and 5Gcitizens International Congress >>>
