IoT Large-Scale Pilots Programme at ICT 2018

23/09/2024

Fröhliche Weihnachten ! or it is too soon? We have an Austrian winter story to share. After the successful participation of the projects from the IoT Large-Scale Pilots (LSP) Programme at the IoT Week in Bilbao, three LSP projects and one Coordination and Support Action will be joining forces again! This time the destination is Vienna and the event is ICT 2018.

What is it about?

During the event, taking place on 4-6 December 2018, IoF2020, ACTIVAGE, SynchroniCity and U4IoT will demonstrate their efforts in scaling the uptake of the Internet of Things (IoT) in Europe, improving the life of citizens, and actively protecting their privacy. ICT 2018 Imagine Digital – Connect Europe will, as its name suggests, highlight the European Union (EU)’s priorities in the digital transformation of society and industry. People who make this transition possible will share their achievements and ideas for the future of mobility, active and healthy ageing, smart farming and the user engagement in smart cities: a view of Europe in the digital age. During the event, all visitors from tech-savvies to digital enthusiasts will have the chance to listen to influential speakers, meet the research community, decision-makers, as well as business representatives, and of course, engage with the innovators behind the EU-funded projects at the special exhibition.

Who will be there?

The IoT LSP Programme will be represented at the exhibition by four IoT LSP projects, which will share a common stand. Here is what they do in a nutshell:

  • Underpinned by the ambition to increase the competitiveness of European farming, IoF2020 develops IoT solutions for the agri-food sector allowing to achieve higher production yields in a modern, more sustainable and environmentally-responsible fashion.
  • SynchroniCity creates a global market for human-centered IoT-enabled urban services which are interoperable, replicable and reusable across cities and across domains.
  • ACTIVAGE builds the first European open IoT ecosystem enabling the deployment of Active & Healthy Ageing solutions and services. It integrates smart devices to analyse older adults’ lifestyle and needs to provide customized solutions, ensuring users’ data privacy and security.
  • U4IoT provides support with end-user engagement methodologies, including co-creative workshops, crowdsourcing tools, expert pool and personal data protection measures. It will present at ICT 2018 how European IoT is secured and protects the privacy of the end-users.

Why should I go?

In the common booth, the projects will showcase state-of-the-art prototypes and high-tech devices that have already been tested and implemented in real IoT-based environments. The focus is on the interaction, visitors are allowed to see, handle and learn using these devices and tools.

You can also expect to see the latest achievements and solutions from the IoT world deployed in precision farming, smart cities and active & healthy ageing. Furthermore, U4IoT will exhibit a set of tools supporting security and privacy by design IoT. Representatives from projects’ use cases (UCs) will make sure that even the most technical questions coming from the audience are answered.

What else is provided?

U4IoT project will organise a networking session for the Large-Scale Pilots and other event participants during the conference. This session is scheduled for the 5th of December, 09:00 to 09:45, in Hall L6/1 (Room 0.94-0.95), and is focused on IoT adoption barriers in IoT large-scale pilots (LSPs). The aim of this session is to bring together participants from the five LSPs as well as other IoT experts in the field, in order to identify and discuss the main barriers and/or enablers for end-users to adopt and use the IoT solutions in each of the five domains. The ICT 2018 conference and in particular the U4IoT session is an excellent opportunity to meet experts on the topic and further shape your action plans for user-engagement in your project activities. Browse through the session page or contact [email protected] for more information about this opportunity.

Last but not least, this gives you one additional reason to visit the world’s music capital where waltz and IoT will meet this winter!
