We are organising an in-person session at the Science Summit at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA77) in New York City on 29 September. Through the session we will showcase 3 to 5 of our members and underline to the policymakers and potential partners the relevance of the Living Lab approach.
The role and contribution of science to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be the central theme of the Summit. The objective of the summit is to develop and launch science collaborations to demonstrate global science mechanisms and activities to support the attainment of the UN SDGs, Agenda 2030 and Local2030. The meeting will also prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future, which will take place during UNGA78 on 12 September 2023.
In January 2022, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres stressed that “we face a five-alarm global fire that requires the full mobilization of all countries,” referring to the raging COVID-19 pandemic, a morally bankrupt global financial system, the climate crisis, lawlessness in cyberspace, and diminished peace and security. For this reason we need bold, innovative, and inclusive solutions and since Living Labs are user-centred open innovation ecosystems they are ideally placed to tackle these issues and raise the bar towards sustainable development goals.
ENoLL and the Living Labs have been mentioned in the 6th IPCC report on Climate Change mitigation, in the chapter dedicated to Partnerships and experiments, among the actors that could play a key role in mitigating climate change.
We invite our members to submit their expression of interest to participate at the Science Summit and showcase their solutions. The application link can be accessed via https://bit.ly/3uJl4QK.
Deadline for the application is 21 August.
