This year brought our colleagues Marta De Los Ríos White, Aurora Agostinis and Koen Vervoort to 10 coastal cities across Europe that are part of the H2020 SCORE project (Smart control of the climate resilience in European coastal cities) and in which the first group of Coastal City Living Labs (CCLLs) are being set up. The marathon started in March 2022 and ended up in November 2022 with visits to Oarsoaldea, Benidorm and Vilanova i la Geltrú in Spain, Sligo and Dublin in Ireland, Oeiras in Portugal, Piran in Slovenia, Massa in Italy, Samsun in Turkey, and Gdánsk in Poland.
Together with our colleagues from NAIDER and IHS, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the local project partners in each Coastal City Living Lab were able to start their Living Lab journey by reflecting on their local opportunities and challenges. The workshops resulted in the identification of the main stakeholders and the agents involved in climate resilience related activities through the use of different tools. This allowed the preparation of the second phase of the project: co-design & co-creation. During this phase, potential solutions to the identified hazards will start to be piloted.
You can find more information on the project here.
